BASSMASTER CLASSIC AND OTHER FISHING TOURNAMENTS

In 2009 and 2012, the Bassmaster Classic, known as the “Super Bowl” of bass fishing, was held at the Red River South Marina.  In 2009, the event attracted 137,700 visitors, which had an estimated $27 million of economic impact on the community.  The Shreveport Regional Sports Authority, tourism board and the local Chamber of Commerce are very involved in helping drive larger events to the marina, including a huge list of upcoming events in 2017 and the RAM Open Series by American Bass Anglers, scheduled at the marina in April 2018.  Three 2017 tournaments contracts are in place with 100-200 boats for each event!

Paradise is described as a very beautiful, pleasant and peaceful place that seems to be perfect. So it’s no wonder that Shreveport and Bossier City’s moniker is Sportsman’s Paradise. It has a lot to do with the natural beauty and outdoor activities that abound in northwest Louisiana.

The many lakes, bayous, river and parks give visitors a chance to soak up the natural beauty of the area while providing plenty of things to do. Outdoor enthusiasts can zip-line over alligators, hit a hole-in-one at a golf course, or fulfill a need for speed at a racetrack. Area parks provide a great place to retreat, too.
